Behavioral Health Director

POSITION SUMMARY

The Director provides clinical and administrative oversight to the Behavioral Health department. The Director reports to the Chief Medical Officer (CMO) and works closely with the Clinic Operations Manager (COM) ensure that the core agency functions are operated according to the highest ethical standards, in compliance with all applicable federal, state, local government regulations, and contractual obligations. The BHD is responsible for strategic planning for the Behavioral Health programs and helping to successfully guide the agency’s clinical programs through changes, growth and challenges.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Supervise FQHC BH clinicians (therapist and Psychiatrist) and social workers.
  • Carry a clinical caseload (70% direct clinical services 30% administration)
  • In collaboration with other programs, support agency-wide focus on delivery of evidence-based, accountable program services.
  • Ensure that all programs are delivered and accessible, building outreach and services to the community in need.
  • Participate in agency management activities, including strategic planning, financial planning, technology planning and implementation, fundraising, staff meetings, new program development, board meetings when requested, media relations and other activities that arise that call for the highest level of leadership.
  • Advise Chief Executive Officer, Chief Program Officer and CMO on challenges facing community mental health programs and identify opportunities to strengthen or inform successful business model.
  • Act as crisis contact, serving as the voice and face of Davis Street in the event of a crisis or disaster affecting communities we served.
  • Support staff in achieving high professional standards, establishing and maintaining appropriate clinical boundaries, integrating internal and external trainings, support for special populations services.
  • Other duties as assigned

REQUIREMENTS

  • Masters level or higher degree in psychology, counseling, social work or related field
  • Current California license in mental health, clinical psychology, social work or related field
  • Minimum 7 years with increasingly responsible management experience within a community mental health organization or other multi-faceted human service agency
  • Familiarity with technology and information systems that support clinical activities
  • Experience with Electronic Health Records a plus
