Dental Director

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Dental Director is in charge of dental practices and responsible for administering, maintaining and expanding dental services. The Dental Director oversees regulatory compliance, safety and standards of care, and provides dental care in a community health center setting. The Dental Director reports to the Chief Medical Officer, supervises the dental staff, and works closely with the Clinical Operations Manager.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Oversee dental operations and provide hands-on patient care as scheduled
  • Develop, maintain and implement formal clinic policies and procedures; guide dentists and professional staff to deliver consistent standards of care according policies and assuring clinical practices are above reproach and of the highest quality
  • Orient and train new and existing dental staff
  • Evaluate the professional staff to insure performance goals related to production, clinical quality and regulatory compliance are met
  • Participate in management meetings and annual planning processes to support Dentist objectives and implementation of the strategic plan
  • Collaborate with the Clinic Operations Manager and other clinic management to ensure smooth operation of clinic and programs including staffing and patient visit ratios, scheduling, cost-benefit of programs; advise on facilities and equipment purchases and repairs;
  • Enhance working relationships with the local dental community who provide Davis Street with external oversight of clinic practices
  • Conduct quality assurance reviews and provide quarterly reports
  • Represent Davis Street at community meetings and events as requested
  • Other duties as assigned

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Graduation from an accredited dental school
  • Completion of an accredited general practice residency program is preferred
  • Minimum of 5 years hands-on dentistry experience; up to date knowledge of regulations, methods, trends and equipment
  • Dental management experience in a busy environment
  • Experience leading teams and coaching employees toward successful outcomes
  • Current CPR certification
  • NPI and DEA authorization number

  • Clarity and accuracy of written and verbal communication skills
  • Detail oriented with strong organizational and time management skills
