The Development Associate is a part-time member of the Development Team. The Development Associate’s primary responsibilities are to ensure a high-quality database as well as timely and accurate donor acknowledgment.  The Development Associate will provide administrative support to the Director of Development and the Individual Giving Officer.  This position requires nonprofit development database experience, the ability to work autonomously, and excellent teamwork skills and communication.


  • Responsible for the Raiser’s Edge database’s integrity and management, ensuring that all aspects of donor giving are accurately recorded and reported, and that all constituent and gift data is collected and organized to be efficiently utilized by the Development staff for internal and external reporting
  • Create new constituent records, updating contact information, notes, upload proposals and other donor related documents.
  • Diligently enter all gifts and pledges into the database along with speedy and accurate generation of acknowledgement letters.
  • Run basic and advanced queries, lists, gift, donor profiles, and action reports to support fundraising efforts.
  • Develop process guides and conduct staff training on database usage.
  • Plan and execute an annual calendar of data maintenance tasks including deceased finders, address scrub, and wealth screen.
  • Produce reports to track appeals, development goals, and return on investment by creating and pulling reports within RE and other systems – including moves management reports, fundraising progress reports as requested by the Director of Development and Individual Giving Officer.
  • Maintain volunteer tracking systems in RE. Create reports in collaboration with Volunteer Manager to identify donor prospects via  volunteer programs.
  • Assist in prospect research and ensure information is added to constituent file(s) for existing and prospective donors.
  • Support Board Fundraising Committee meetings by taking minutes.
  • Assist in the monthly reconciling of donor database and financial system.
  • Contribute to the development, documentation, refinement and facilitation of the Database Process and Procedure sections of the Development Department Operations Manual.
  • Partner with the Finance Team on the pledged gifts, monthly revenue reconciliations, and provide requested documentation during yearly audits.
  • Other duties as assigned


  • Minimum of 2 years work experience with databases, preferably Raiser’s Edge or other CRM systems.
  • A working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook), database management programs, internet research and basic office-oriented equipment.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with a high level of thoroughness, accuracy and detail.
  • High standards of excellence and a “does whatever it takes to accomplish the job” attitude.
  • High level of multitasking ability. Self-motivated with creative and efficient use of time and resources in planning and managing various responsibilities to meet tight deadlines.
