Job Title: Director of Fundraising/Development

Davis Street is growing and searching for a new Director of Development to lead our fundraising efforts. The Development Director will be responsible for overseeing and implementing the annual development plan. The plan includes: individual giving, corporate solicitations, direct mail, grants, events and stewardship. The position works closely with the Chief Executive Officer in cultivating major donors and engaging the Board of Directors in fundraising efforts.

Roles and Responsibilities

  1. Oversee foundation and corporate fundraising, and, in collaboration with the CEO, build and maintain relationships with foundation and corporate supporters and prospects
  • Manage the prospecting process including developing systems and processes for identifying, vetting, researching and prioritizing potential foundation or corporate funders
  • Ensure a seamless process for preparation and submission of grant requests and reports
  • Manage portfolio of major donor prospects
  • Manage all donor stewardship efforts
  • Plan, oversee and implement annual gala
  • Develop and implement planned giving program

2. Coordinate Davis Street’s development communications and outreach efforts to key constituents, including volunteers, donors, and community partners

3. Manage Davis Street’s Development Office Operations

  • Create yearly fundraising plan that details activities, staffing, timelines, and completion dates
  • Oversee maintenance of the donor database and monthly reconciliation of gifts and acknowledgement of gifts
  • Supervise Development Manager and Development Associate

4. Support and partner with the board on all major fundraising initiatives

 

Qualifications

  • B.A. degree required
  • Minimum of seven years fund development experience with strong knowledge of private sector, foundation, community agency, and corporate funding opportunities
  • Experience expanding funding base to support program growth
  • Organized, entrepreneurial self-starter
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with demonstrated ability to build and maintain relationships
  • Excellent communication skills with demonstrated ability to speak and write clearly and persuasively
  • Ability to work on multiple projects with overlapping deadlines
  • Excellent organizational, time management, and follow-up skills
  • Ability to work in an inclusive, collaborative, small-office work environment
  • Proficiency in using Microsoft Office required
  • Sense of humor and ability to exhibit grace under pressure highly desirable
  • Knowledgeable about issues surrounding underserved youth and families
  • Willingness to take on additional duties as necessary and appropriate
