Job Description

The Fiscal Analyst will assist the Finance Director in analyzing fiscal and program data to identify, review and evaluate revenue and expenditures for each program. The Fiscal Analyst will also monitor government contracts by ongoing review of contracts terms and compliance. The role works with departmental staff to support management of budgets and financial reporting, in addition to developing and creating resource allocations to recognize revenue while ensuring adherence within the budget. The Fiscal Analyst must be detail-oriented with the ability to work cross-functionally, thrive in an autonomous and deadline-oriented workplace.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze new and existing contracts to ensure revenue are recognized through appropriate tracking of activity.
  • Collaborate with Fiscal Manager to review monthly Expenditure reports for assigned Childcare contracts.
  • Work with department heads to perform variance analysis of actuals to forecast and budget, investigate, and explain any major discrepancies, and provide insightful actionable recommendations.
  • Create financial models for specific projects or scenarios to facilitate operational and strategic decision-making
  • Assist in analyzing the balance sheet fluctuations to identify potential areas of risk and opportunities for operations.
  • Assist in preparation of the annual agency budget and budget mid-year revision.
  • Assist in month-end and year-end closing with analysis for various functional areas including but not limited to cash, prepaid expenses, taxes, accounts payable, accrued liabilities, vendor setup and review.
  • Develop Contracts/ Grant tracking tools to analyze and monitor compliance with program criteria.
  • Independently lead and assist with ad-hoc projects as needed
  • Perform general accounting tasks as assigned by Finance Director
  • Other duties assigned

Requirements

  • Must have a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
  • 3 years of accounting experience, non-profit experience preferred
  • Experience with accounting software such as MIP, preferred
  • Demonstrate high level of knowledge and understanding of GAAP
  • Experience with month-end reconciliation and analysis
  • Knowledge of technical accounting functions and experience in financial record keeping
  • Experience with auditing financial statements and documents
  • Self-motivated, deadline driven and results oriented, attention to details, a problem solver with strong teamwork skills and strong desire to drive change
  • Strong computer skills using Microsoft Office
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills

Compensation

$72,000 - $80,000 per year
