On 八月 27, Davis Street Foundation brought together community members, supporters, local leaders, and donors at their annual Gala to raise funds for Davis Street Community Center’s programs including the Food Pantry, Medical, Dental, Child Care, Behavioral Health, and Intellectual Disabilities, serving individuals and families throughout the region. The meaningful evening celebrated community and supported Davis Street’s mission to provide essential services to children, families, adults, and seniors in need.
This year, Davis Street had 43,270 food pantry visits and 2,611 individuals access the clothing program. The primary care clinic provided 23,028 visits. More than 1,000 children were cared for through the child care voucher program and child development centers, our Intellectual & Developmental Disabilities Services supported 64 adults through programs that promote independence.
Guests at the emerald themed Gala celebrated Davis Street’s many achievements while also celebrating Brian Copeland the award-winning actor, comedian, author, playwright, television and radio host, who grew up in San Leandro. Brian was presented with a ‘golden mic’ award in recognition of his 24 years of being Davis Street’s Master of Ceremonies.
Brian’s connection to Davis Street goes back to 1996, when he learned that federal funding cuts threatened Davis Street’s preschool breakfast program. He stepped in to help and supported Davis Street through auctions and other fundraising efforts. Most recently, Brian’s Comedy in the Plaza brought the community together to support Davis Street’s Back to School Drive.

About Davis Street Community Center
Founded in 1972, Davis Street Community Center is a nonprofit organization dedicated to improving the quality of life for low-income families and individuals. Davis Street provides essential services that strengthen families and uplift our community. Programs include a Primary Care Clinic with Dental and Behavioral Health services; a Basic Need Program providing emergency food and clothing; Children’s Services comprised of voucher-based care and direct care through our three development centers; and specialized programs that support adults with intellectual disabilities.
