Parent: One of the biggest challenges I faced during the pandemic was being able to go to work while making sure my daughter was somewhere safe and cared for.

I was so relieved when I learned that I could still access care for my daughter, even when schools and so many other places had shut down.

Youth Participant: COVID-19 brought a lot of challenges. At first, I thought everything was normal, but then we were told to shelter in place. Having to attend school through a computer instead of being in a classroom was difficult, and it really affected my mood.

During quarantine, I was still able to come here and participate in activities. Most parents weren’t allowing their kids to go outside or spend time with friends, so in many ways, the staff here became my friends.

Everyone was incredibly supportive. Crystal Gonzalez, in particular, helped me a lot. She’s wonderful.

Parent: One of the hardest obstacles we faced was not always having enough food. Our income wasn’t enough to cover everything we needed while also paying rent and other expenses.

The services provided here are so important. They’ve helped me tremendously, and I can only imagine how many other families and single parents they’ve supported along the way.

Youth Participant: Davis Street has been part of my life for a long time. When I was younger, my mom was raising me on her own. She didn’t have much support and often came here for food and assistance after a friend introduced her to the organization.

I remember hearing her say, “I got this from Davis Street.” The name stayed with me growing up. As I’ve gotten older, I’ve realized that Davis Street provided so much more than food—it provided hope and support.

It was difficult watching my mom struggle, but whenever she brought something home, she always made it feel special. That meant a lot to me.

Parent: At one point, we were having trouble finding a pediatrician and counseling services. I spent hours making phone calls and searching for resources before finally being referred here.

It was such a relief to find medical care, counseling, and other support services all in one place. So many families don’t know where to turn, and making these resources more visible could help countless people.

I would absolutely recommend Davis Street to others. The support they’ve provided has given me peace of mind, and I’m incredibly grateful.

The opportunity to receive help here also allowed me to focus on my future. I was able to return to school and pursue a career in healthcare. There were opportunities available to me before, but without support, I wasn’t able to move forward.

I can’t imagine what life would have been like without these services. They’ve made an enormous difference for my family.

When you don’t have relatives nearby or a support system to rely on, you start to wonder who you can turn to. Organizations like Davis Street become that support system. They become family.

Davis Street is caring, supportive, and always there when people need help. I deeply appreciate everything they do, and I know many other families feel the same way.
