Our History
We are a community leader in guiding families and individuals out of poverty.
Since 1972, Davis Street has been a key community leader in guiding families and individuals out of poverty and into productive lives. Founded as a ministry of the San Leandro First Christian Church to provide basic emergency support services to low-income people, we have expanded our services over the years to include: primary care (medical, dental, pediatric, behavioral health and women’s health services), affordable child care through our voucher payment assistance program and 4 child care centers, programs for adults living with developmental disabilities, a food pantry, a free clothing program and more.
In May of 1990, Davis Street incorporated as a non-profit, 501(c) (3). We are governed by a volunteer Board of Directors and welcome your involvement.
