Davis Street operates four licensed child care centers in San Leandro, providing a stimulating, nurturing and inclusive environment year round for your child to learn and grow. We offer care for potty trained children 2.9 – 10 years old at our Jefferson site, private preschool and school age care at our Garfield site, subsidized part-day preschool at our Lakeside site and private pay school age care at our Roosevelt site.
Emergent curriculum is an early education approach where our teachers design projects unique to a child or group of children. This approach allows inspiration, curiosity and celebration, builds motivation and a love of learning as well as a compass to guide them as a learner. Emergent curriculum is also a way of teaching and planning the curriculum that is responsive to the children’s interests.
We also focus on multicultural awareness and sensitivity, as well as social, emotional, cognitive, and physical development.

Davis Street’s vision is to provide our children with a well-rounded and nurturing environment with a strong foundation in education, nutrition, social-emotional skill building, and multicultural awareness to develop positive tools for their individual growth and development.
We achieve this by providing a safe and caring childcare environment, hire qualified and involved staff, age-appropriate program curriculum, activities for social, emotional, cognitive, and physical development, multicultural education and sensitivity, creative play opportunities, parent education, and involvement, and offer health and social service support and referrals.
