Job Description

The HR Supervisor performs generalist duties across multiple areas of Human Resources. Work as a flexible HR team member and provides excellent customer service in a professional manner. The HR Supervisor provides backup for the Chief HR Officer as needed, maintains strict confidentiality in performing responsibilities, and works in accordance with department and agency policies and procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Provide HR services for Davis Street’s multiple programs and locations. Provide guidance and respond to questions while adhering to company policies and external laws.
  • Maintain knowledge of employment laws, regulations, trends and best practices to enhance the quality and compliance of HR services.
  • Independently manage full-cycle talent acquisition for multiple positions, including creating effective ads, recruiting and sourcing, participating in job fairs and outreach events, employee referrals, presenting job offers, and training and coaching managers on the hiring process and effective interviewing/selection techniques.
  • Maintain recruiting metrics to track time to fill, cost/impact of turnover, and evaluate trends for the appropriate actions.
  • Oversee the HR onboarding program for new hires, including coordinating internal presenters to enhance the overall onboarding experience.
  • Communicate employee benefits and coordinate annual open enrollment events.
  • Assist employees with employee leave of absence request and workers comp claims. Provide updates to managers as needed.
  • Respond to EDD unemployment and disability claims.
  • Perform offboarding, conduct exit interviews and track exit feedback for appropriate actions.
  • Assist managers in building an effective department onboarding program to support new-hire retention, and assist with overall employee retention initiatives.
  • Work with Managers to update and maintain job descriptions.
  • Work with external partners for job training opportunities.
  • Partner with Chief HR Officer on HR and organization initiatives and goals, and provide backup for Chief HR Officer to maintain continuity of HR services.
  • Generate regular agency-wide on HR related information, reminders and updates.
  • Participate in Manager trainings.
  • Assist with misc. projects and events.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • 3 years HR experience
  • Bachelor’s degree or certificate in HR, with understanding of HR practices and employment laws
  • Strong leadership, judgement and problem-solving skills
  • Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple tasks with timeliness and attention to detail
  • Strong computer skills using MS Word, Excel, Outlook, Power Point, and Zoom/Teams
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, and written and verbal communication skills
  • Maintain a positive and professional demeanor
  • Commitment to maintaining strict confidentiality and appropriately work with sensitively information and documents.
