Job Description

The Quality Nurse is responsible for overseeing multiple projects within the clinic and deliver successful program outcomes. The role of the Quality Nurse is to help strategize for the clinic to achieve success through performance improvement activities, quality monitoring, evaluation and facilitation of quality improvement projects. The Quality Nurse will assist with assessment activities and facilitate compliance with Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC)/Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA), Medicare/ Medicaid regulations, state licensure laws, and NCQA recognition requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Define and oversee multiple projects to reach the program’s overall goals. Projects may include but not limited to EHR enhancements, QI activities, risk management activities, Meaningful Use, HEDIS.
  • Lead Patient Centered Medical Home initiative (processes to implement may include empanelment, same day appointment, case management program, etc.).
  • Lead or assist with coordination for clinical audits with HRSA and other regulatory entities.
  • Collaborate with the Chief Medical Officer and providers to help streamline processes.
  • Partner and develop project plans with inter-departmental teams, external partners, and consultants to achieve overall business and clinical goals.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of standards and processes for quality assurance and clinical process improvement.
  • Facilitate Quality Improvement and Quality Assurance (QI/QA) Committee meetings.
  • Compile statistical data and write narrative reports summarizing UDS measures and QI/QA findings.
  • Track, benchmark and monitor operational and clinical performance measures.
  • Review, develop and update clinical policies and procedures and clinical program descriptions as needed.
  • May be required to train staff to maintain quality management as needed.
  • Demonstrate effective leadership with emphasis on taking initiative and being proactive.
  • Provide consultation and support to program staff.
  • Comply with all regulatory and licensing agency requirements and promptly inform the applicable person(s) of changes and updates.
  • Comply with the organization’s Code of Conduct, all regulatory and contractual requirements, organizational policies, procedures, and internal controls.
  • Other duties and special projects as assigned.

Requirements

  • Current California RN License or related
  • 2 years experience in a clinic, hospital, or healthcare setting preferred
  • 1 year QI/QA and project management experience preferred
  • Strong communication and presentation skills with ability to develop written correspondences and interact with individuals at every level of the organization
  • Excellent analytical, time management and organizational skills with consistent follow through on assignments in a timely manner and ensuring deadlines are met
  • Proficiency in Windows including Microsoft Office suite including Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint
  • Ability to work with culturally diverse populations and varied socio-economic levels
  • Flexible disposition with ability to perform a variety of tasks with frequent interruptions; be poised under stress and willing to change priorities without advance notice
