Davis Street Joins Forces with US Post Office to Stamp Out Hunger!
May 14, 2019; San Leandro, California: On Saturday, May 11th, Davis Street Community Center combined efforts with the US Post Office for the nation’s largest one-day food drive, Stamp Out Hunger. “We look forward to our partnership with our local post office, and Stamp out Hunger, is our largest collection event and thus far, Davis Street has collected over 25,000 pounds of food” states Rose Johnson, CEO of Davis Street Community Center.
The 27th annual food drive was set up at the San Leandro US Post Office on Abram Court and more than 30 volunteers came to support the food drive that included former City Councilmember Candidates Kenneth Pon and Bryan Azevedo, San Leandro Key Club members, local High School students, and Davis Street staff. The volunteers prepared thousands of pounds of Nonperishable food items to be dropped off and sorted at 1777 Abram Court in San Leandro.
