Job Description

The Medical Director will be responsible for overseeing clinic quality and medical patient care services to ensure quality patient outcomes. The Medical Director will work collaboratively with clinic leaders (Medical, Dental and Behavioral Health) to ensure compliance with clinic policies, procedures and protocols. The Medical Director will dedicate 80% of their time to direct patient care and 20% to administrative leadership.

Responsibilities

  • Provide clinical leadership for medical programs and services
  • Collaborate with the CMO and the clinic team to assure required primary care services are assessable to patients.
  • Provide direct and indirect patient care in-person, by phone and electronic communication devises.
  • Hire, supervise, train and evaluate assigned staff, including the RN Manager, SW/Case Manager and Quality Coordinator.
  • Ensure quality clinical care is provided and maintained, including adherence to generally accepted clinical practices.
  • Provide direct leadership for Quality Assurance and Utilization Review.
  • Oversee the Primary Care Clinic’s QI programs, ensure and deploy CQI standards; participating in continuous quality improvement activities; supervising the quality assurance/risk management program, which includes review of services, quality, patient satisfaction, utilization, medical peer review, tracking provider productivity, infection control and other clinical issues.
  • Oversee the quality, accuracy and timeliness of documented medical records, tracking of referral, recall of patients, and assessment of clinical outcomes.
  • Ensure the deployment of continuity of care workflows.
  • Provide guidance with budget development, cost containment and productivity efforts, including participation in the planning and budgeting process.
  • Leads chronic disease collaborative(s) and/or other re-engineering and clinical quality improvement efforts, including testing, implementation, and oversight of changes, as appropriate.
  • May lead or assist with programs to meet the needs of the community including chronic disease management programs.
  • Work with the clinic leadership, ensure timely updates to the clinic’s policies and procedures.
  • Participate in Davis Street’s health fairs, and other special events in support of the clinic.
  • Attend meetings and make reports as requested.
  • Fill in for the part-time Chief Medical Officer as assigned.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Graduate from an accredited school of Medicine
  • Board Certified
  • Current California Physician license
  • Current DEA license
  • Current CPR/BLS certification
  • Proficient using MS Office and EMR software
  • Experience leading and coaching employees toward successful outcomes
  • Experience evaluating and managing quality initiatives
  • Dedicated to ensuring the highest quality of care to patients
  • Friendly and professional demeanor, and a management style that supports a collaborative environment and continuous improvement culture
  • Sensitivity to and experience working with diverse racial/ethnic communities
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills and interpersonal skills
  • Detail oriented, effective organizational skills and meets timelines
