Job Description

New grads welcome! We are seeking a Board-Certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) to join our dynamic team, specializing in the treatment of individuals with psychiatric conditions with an emphasis on substance use disorders. This position encompasses the PMHNP to work within the scope of practice to see psychiatric patients across the lifespan while focusing on individuals with substance use disorder. Responsibilities include conducting comprehensive psychiatric evaluations, developing tailored treatment plans, and coordinating care to enhance patient outcomes.

Responsibilities

  • Initial Evaluations: Conduct thorough psychiatric assessments of patients with psychiatric disorders and/or substance use disorders, identifying their mental health and substance use related needs.
  • Diagnosis & Treatment Planning: Formulate initial diagnoses and create individualized treatment plans that address both mental health and substance use concerns.
  • Direct Services: Provide assessments, crisis intervention, medication management, including injections, and direct mental health care services. Ensure accurate medical record documentation for all services rendered.
  • Progress Notes: Generate detailed progress notes on EHR for services rendered, reflecting the patient's status and treatment progress.
  • Care Coordination: Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team members to establish effective medication regimens tailored to the patient's history and presenting symptoms, for psychiatric and/or substance use disorders.
  • Medication Adherence: Work closely with patients and interdisciplinary team members to ensure medication adherence through patient education and individualized or group interventions, monitoring medication management protocols.
  • Policy Implementation: Assist in the development and enforcement of medication policies, procedures, and protocols within patient treatment plans, as directed by the Medical Director.
  • Monitoring & Reporting: Monitor patients with persistent mental illness and substance use disorders, promptly notifying the Medical Director of any significant changes in symptoms or impairments that are not addressed by standard interventions.

Requirements

  • Current California Nurse Practitioner license
  • Board-Certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP)
  • Current DEA license
  • Current BLS certification
  • Experience in mental health care with a focus on substance use disorders preferred
  • Strong understanding of medication management for psychiatric and substance-related conditions
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively engage with patients and staff
  • Able to use sound judgment, calm disposition, and ability to work proactively with interdisciplinary team members
  • Desire to work with culturally diverse populations and varied socio-economic levels
