August 1, 2019 ; San Leandro, California: Today the Davis Street Family Resource Center gave out Nike Shoes to 150 kids as part of Davis Street annual Back 2 School Giveaway. The program provides new shoes for low-income children in San Leandro in preparation of the upcoming school year.
As the school year approaches, many children in our own community find themselves without a new pair of shoes to start the school year. The support of Nike and the community is important to ensuring that a kid goes back to school with shoes that inspire the kids to “Just Do It” with a positive attitude to begin the school year.
Kristal Gonzalez, Davis Street Basic Needs Assistant Manager also states “Kids are judged in school by what they wear and for kids to get new shoes to wear when going back to school, their spirits are uplifted that supports their well-being”.
