1,000 Underprivileged Children Received New Bikes and Helmets for the Holidays!

December 14, 2019; San Leandro, California: 1,000 underprivileged children received new bikes and helmets on Saturday, December 14, from 9am-2pm through our annual Bikes for Tykes program. Over the past ten years, Officer Louie Brandt and San Leandro the Police Officers Association partnered with Davis Street to give away more than hundreds of new bicycles and helmets to low-income children in our community. After Officer Louie Brant’s retirement early this year, he passed along the baton to longtime colleague, Jason Jower, of the Abbott Diabetes Care Division. Jason has taken the lead and adopted the program to provide 1,000 new bicycles and helmets to underprivileged children this year.

Our many thanks to Abbott Diabetes Care Division,
Councilmember Ed Hernandez, Sons of Liberty Alehouse, San Leandro Police
Department and San Leandro Police Officers Association for the logistics and
fundraising efforts as well as to the many other volunteers and organizations that
donated their time to make Bikes for Tykes possible.
