May 17, 2018; San Leandro, California: Saturday May 12th, Davis Street Family Resource Center came together and helped with the Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive located at the San Leandro US Post Office on Abram Court. Davis Street received over 25,000 pounds of food! It is the biggest collection event Davis Street has every year for the food bank.
Setup for the 26th annual food drive started at 4 pm to prepare for thousands of pounds of nonperishable food to be dropped off and sorted. This year more than 50 volunteers came to support the food drive, including councilmember Pete Ballew who helped all afternoon, members from the United Methodist Church, a couple Navy officers, local high school students and Davis Street staff.
